WHY SUGAR CRYSTAL? ‘a potent moisture magnet’ !

Exposure to everyday urban dryness – anything from air-conditioned working/living conditions, to air travel - requires face care products that ensure long-term hydration even in low humidity conditions. Sugar works as a moisture magnet and provides active ingredients complex of similar composition and nature to the skin. At Korres Natural Products, they have selected two innovative sugar-derived active agents in order to develop a product of great compatibility with the skin, which moisturises even when all conventional hydrating mechanisms cease to operate.

1) The first agent is an emulsifying complex based on sucrose esters which gives the cream a unique texture of a liquid-crystal emulsion. This emulsion type resembles, in an unparalleled way, the natural multi-layer structure of the epidermis. Thus being highly compatible and easily absorbed [the epidermis ‘identifies’ it as familiar and therefore allows better absorption]. Such properties enhance the effectiveness of the product while also making the formulation much friendlier to the skin.

2) The second sugar-derived active constitutes a unique and innovative moisture-retention agent, the composition of which is very similar to the natural carbohydrate fraction found in the horny [outer] layer of the skin. This agent binds moisture and retains it on the skin, working as a ‘moisture magnet’ an action that impressively resembles the functions of the natural carbohydrate fraction of the epidermis. It is highly effective under low relative humidity (20-50%), at which level most conventional hydrating agents are unable to function. Exposure to such conditions is very often in an urban living environment - central heating, air conditioning, travelling by plane - or even during the summer months.
